FAMILY COACHING

Customized coaching for family & friends of individuals with chronic mental health conditions available nationwide.

Family coaching is a service for individuals and their loved ones wanting to learn more about how to navigate the common complexities that come up with managing a chronic mental health condition.

Family coaching sessions are tailored specifically to each client. Some common concerns addressed in family coaching are boundaries, what to do when a loved one's mood has started to shift, how to navigate delusions, and more.

Post-Hospitalization Family Coaching

Being psychiatrically hospitalized can be a confusing, and scary, process for most.

Trust and connection between family members can feel shaky as the events of what led to hospitalization are just beginning to be understood.

Family members may feel nervous about their loved one returning home and the one returning home may be holding a lot of shame and guilt related to how life got to where it is now.

Post-Hospitalization Family Coaching is a great fit for families that want to dedicate some intentional time and space to learn ways to not have a hospitalization happen again. Oftentimes this looks like creating a shared plan on symptoms to communicate about, what to say, who to ask, how to check-in, etc.

Coaching for the Caregivers

Being involved in a loved one's mental health care comes with its unique set of responsibilities that at times feels like a lonely, exhaustive role. A role you didn't ask for and a role you didn't know would one day consume so much of your time and energy.

Whether it's the phone calls to different providers or advocating for better mental healthcare in a system that feels defeating at times, you’ve seen it all. You love your family member dearly and you just want what is best for them.

You crave balance and stability in your life, just as much as you want the same for them. You want to feel less resentment and more love and understanding. You don't want their mental health diagnosis to rule so strongly anymore.

They are more than their condition and you crave a relationship with them that goes beyond being their caregiver. You want to be their daughter again, their parent, their partner.

You too deserve to take up space. Your thoughts, emotions, grievances, and longings are meant to be heard and you don't have to silence your struggles any longer.

Coaching for caregivers involves learning ways to take care of yourself just as much as you take care of the ones around you, ultimately leading to lasting change within the family unit as a whole. You’re worth it. You’ve been doing this alone for too long. Let’s work together to get you what you need.

How It Can Look

  • Customized support via personalized workbooks

  • An opportunity to rebuild connection and trust between family members after a psychiatric hospitalization, ie: conversations around the events leading up to hospitalization, ways to make peace with what was and move forward, and new ways to create a safe environment at home that everyone can feel comfort in.

  • A focus on what the family member who was psychiatrically hospitalized may need and ways other family members can best support moving forward.
