POST-HOSPITALIZATION FAMILY MEETINGS

Being psychiatrically hospitalized can be a confusing, and scary, process for most.

Trust and connection between family members can feel shaky as the events of what led to hospitalization still need to be processed and understood.

Family members may feel nervous about their loved one returning home and the one returning home may be holding a lot of shame and guilt related to how life got to where it is now.

Family meetings are a great service for families that want to dedicate some intentional time and space to healing from the crisis itself and learn ways to come together and repair what may have been shaken.

How It Can Look

Customized support to rebuild connection and trust between family members after a psychiatric hospitalization. This may include ongoing conversations around the events leading up to hospitalization, ways to make peace with what was and move forward, and new ways to create a safe environment at home that everyone can feel comfort in. Family meetings have a focus on what the family member who was psychiatrically hospitalized may need and ways other family members can best support moving forward.

Family meetings are also suitable for families and individuals to gain a healthier understanding of how to communicate about the illness being experienced.
